What counts toward storage
- Documents and photos you upload in a project's Files tab, and photos attached to field items.
- A company's invoice logo and its public showcase logo.
- Links do not count: only stored files do.
- Files are kept exactly as you upload them. ProtoPM does not resize or compress photos.
- Up to 25 MB per file and 20 files at a time. Photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC), PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, text and email files (EML, MSG) are accepted.
How to link a file
- Open the project and go to the Files tab.
- Choose Add, then Paste link.
- Give the link a name and paste its address from Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, a plan room or any web page.
- Choose Document or Photo, then Add link.
- The link appears in the Files list. Selecting it opens the file in a new tab.
Good to know about links
- A link is a pasted address, not an integration. There is no sync, no file picker and no preview inside ProtoPM.
- Who can open a link depends on that link's own sharing settings in Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox.
- If the file is moved, deleted or unshared, the link stops working.
- Viewers can open links in the Files tab. Guests do not see the Files tab.
If you need more storage
- Storage packs are optional and billed per company: +25 GB is $5 CAD/mo and +100 GB is $12 CAD/mo, and they stack. Nobody pays per user.
- When a company is full, new uploads are declined until space is freed or storage is added. Adding a link still works.
- If a storage add-on ends and the files no longer fit, the company gets a 60-day grace period with reminder emails before the largest files are removed to fit. Projects and records are never deleted.
Common questions
- How much storage does ProtoPM include?
- 2 GB per company on the free plan, enough for hundreds of full-size site photos plus documents. No credit card.
- Can I use Google Drive or OneDrive with ProtoPM?
- Yes, as links. Instead of uploading, paste a link to a file or folder in Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or any web link; it opens from the project and uses none of your storage. Who can open it depends on the link's own sharing settings.
- Do linked files use my storage?
- No. Only files you upload count toward the company's storage.
- Does ProtoPM compress my photos?
- No. Photos and documents are stored exactly as you upload them.
